The El Alamein Camel Racing racecourse in Arab Republic of Egypt witnessed the launch of the 2025 camel racing events with the first preliminary race, held in coordination with the Egyptian Camel Racing Federation, with the support of the Camel Racing Federation in the United Arab Emirates.
The El Alamein and Sharm El Sheikh racecourses are among the most prominent camel racing fields in the region, hosting a series of preliminary races annually leading up to the final festival in December 2025 at the El Alamein racecourse. This is part of the effort to preserve this ancient sport and enhance its presence in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the region.
This year’s events include five races, comprising four preliminary competitions and a final race, with participation from various age groups across 32 heats in each race. The number of participating camels exceeded 1,400, indicating the great interest in this ancient heritage sport.
Cash prizes were awarded to the winners from first to tenth place in each round, in support of camel racing, to encourage camel owners, and to promote authentic Arab heritage and customs, while ensuring the transmission of this traditional sport to future generations.
The races also featured the introduction of robot jockeys, a step that contributes to its development and continuity, keeping pace with modern requirements and preserving its sustainability.
The festival embodies the deep fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Through its continued support for these races, the UAE affirms its commitment to consolidating the leadership of camel racing regionally and internationally, preserving the authentic heritage, and passing it on to future generations.
Holding these races serves as a bridge of communication and promotes shared Arab heritage values between the two brotherly countries.
