The third preliminary round of the Al Ain Camel Racing Festival continued today, Saturday, at Al Rawda Camel Racecourse in Al Ain.
The first ever edition of the festival is organized by the Racing and Presidential Camel Affairs Center, under the supervision of UAE Camel Racing Federation.
In the second day of the third round which was for Al Haqaeq category witnessed 15 races of a 2 km distance .
The participating camels set impressive times in the festival, which promotes camel racing in the country and is the latest race on the heritage sports agenda this season.
“Al Wariyah,” owned by Salem Hamad Rashid Al Mukhaibi, marked its presence by winning the first round, completing the race in 2:49:85 minutes. “Al Shababi,” owned by Ali Sultan Mohammed Al Hashemi, set the best time in the second round for Al Qaedan, with a time of 2:46:10 minutes. “Al-Dhabi,” owned by Hamad Muslim Salem Al-Juhafi, soared to the top of the third round for purebred Arabian fillies, completing the race in 2:50:45 minutes, while “Shaheen,” owned by Awad Abdullah Al-Balushi, claimed first place in the fourth round with a time of 2:49:00 minutes. The fifth round saw “Hakma,” owned by Abdullah Al-Doudah Al-Amiri, take first place with a time of 2:52:56 minutes. “Hamlula,” owned by Salem Hamad Shatit Al-Farsi, claimed the sixth round with a time of 2:49:52 minutes. The remaining rounds, from the seventh to the fifteenth, resulted in wins for: “Ladhi” owned by Ali Saeed Habib Al Hashemi, “Al Dheeba” owned by Mubarak Muslim Hathoot, “Al Asima” owned by Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, “Al Rawi” owned by Awad Abdullah Al Balushi, “Hazar” owned by Tahmeema Matar Al Ameri, “Mathkhoura” owned by Hamad Salem Al Wahaibi, “Shaheen” owned by Saif Mohammed Hamad Al Darei, “Al Andalus” owned by Ali Salem Ali Al Ghailani, and “Marhi” owned by Surur Salmeen Al Mansouri. The two-day competition for the Laqaya category begins tomorrow, Sunday. The festival’s organizing committee has allocated 15 rounds for the first day and another 15 for the second day, Monday. The mounts will run a distance of 4 km.
