

The Zayed Camel Racing Grand Prix festival 2025 continued successfully at Al Wathba Racecourse in Abu Dhabi, today Saturday for the Al Thanaya age category (two-year-olds) covering a distance of 6 kilometers. The event saw a large turnout of camels from the UAE and other GCC countries.
Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Presidential Flight Authority, attended the evening races and the competition for the four symbolic prizes allocated to the Al Thanaya category in the first four main races. “Al Madina,” owned by Mohamed Sultan Markhan Al Ketbi, won Al Thanaya Abkar Cup in the open race, completing the distance in 8, 57.47 mins.
“Mubashir,” also owned by Mohammed Sultan Markhan Al Ketbi, won the second symbolic prize, the Qadan rifle, in the open race, securing first place with a time of 8 minutes, 54 seconds, and 43 milliseconds. Mohammed Sultan Markhan Al Ketbi’s winning streak continued in the Thanaia camel races, with “Wasm” securing the Al Abkar Cup in the local camel category, completing the race in 8:58:10 minutes.
“Mahoul” gifted its owner, Mu’adhd Mohammed Hilal Al Mazrouei, the Thanaia title and the final symbol of the race, winning the Al Shaddad Cup in the local camel category with a time of 9:07:23 minutes.
The remaining races, which witnessed fierce competition for first place, resulted in victories for “Sina’a” owned by Mohammed Sultan Markhan Al Ketbi, “Mazoon” owned by Nayel Rashid Saif Al Shamsi, “Hamloul” owned by Mohammed Sultan Markhan Al Ketbi, “Azzam” owned by Ali Sultan Balrashid Al Ketbi, “Wa’ad” owned by Nasser Hussein Al Marri, “Marasim” owned by Mohammed Sultan Markhan Al Ketbi, and “Al Mushakhis” owned by Fahad Hussein Al Nuaimi.
