
The UAE Supports Egyptian Camel Racing to Preserve and Promote the Heritage Sport
A Distinguished Conclusion to the Third Preliminary Round of Camel Races with 32 Races at Al-Alamein Racecourse in Cairo
The third preliminary race of the 2025-2026 camel racing season concluded at Al-Alamein Camel Racing Track in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The races, held on December 12th and 13th, were organized and supported by the UAE Camel Racing Federation in cooperation with the Egyptian Camel Racing Federation, as part of joint efforts to preserve this ancient heritage sport and enhance its presence regionally and across the Arab world.
Al-Alamein Racecourse is one of the most prominent camel racing tracks in the region, hosting a series of preliminary races annually, culminating in the final festival. This reflects the growing interest in this authentic sport and the organizers’ commitment to its development, sustainability, preservation of authentic Arab identity, and adherence to traditional customs and practices. The race witnessed wide participation from camel owners and trainers, with the program comprising 32 races across various categories. Thirty of these races were held using robotic jockeys, while two were ridden by human jockeys, totaling 32 races. This initiative aims to preserve the authenticity of this traditional sport while developing it to meet modern standards. The competitions were fierce, reflecting the high level of preparedness of the participants and the significant turnout from camel owners and trainers, clearly demonstrating the importance of this traditional sport within Arab societies. Valuable cash prizes were awarded to the winners of the various races to support camel racing, encourage owners and trainers, and ensure the continuity of this authentic Arab heritage for future generations. This third preliminary race embodies the deep fraternal ties between the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt, reflecting the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the two federations and their commitment to solidifying the leading position of camel racing in the Arab world.
